Janice Lobaugh, a 48-year-old married mom of two who owns her own real estate company in Wasilla, Alaska, was just 17 when she was forced to give her 5-month-old baby boy, Therman Randall Blair, up for adoption.

"I had a very stressful childhood," Lobaugh told Yahoo! Shine in an interview on Friday. She and her younger sister discovered they were both pregnant on the same day, and their mother — a single mom already struggling to raise three kids — was not supportive. One Friday when Therman was just a few months old, Lobaugh left him with her mother so she could pick up her paycheck. When she called from a pay phone to check on him an hour or so later, her mom said that Therman wasn't there.

"I said, 'What do you mean he's not there? Where's my son?'" Lobaugh remembered. "She said, 'He got fussy, I couldn't deal with it. I called the police.'"

The police took the baby to a nearby social services organization; when Lobaugh went to go get him, the employees wouldn't let her see her son. Instead, they told her she needed to meet with a case worker the following Monday.

"So I went in and met with them," she told Yahoo! Shine. "The lady asked me if I had ever considered adoption, and I said, 'No.'"

"And she said, 'Janice, what do you want for your son?' And I said 'I want him to be loved, I want him to be in a good environment, I don't want him to be run through hell.'"

"I made the decision to put him up for adoption because I didn't have any options for the future," she told Yahoo! Shine, in tears.

Lobaugh visited her baby in foster care a few times, but she only found out that the adoption was in progress when his foster mom stopped her on the street. She told Lobaugh that the new family was changing Therman's name to Spencer Parrish.

"That was the last time I saw my son," Lobaugh told Yahoo! Shine.

She spent the next 30 years trying to find him. "Every time I'd see somebody with a small child, I'd look to see if it was him," she said, crying. "Never found him, never saw him." When she was 23, she asked state social services if she could contact the adoptive parents, and was told that it was a closed adoption and the family had left the state.

By 1997, Lobaugh was an Alaska state government employee. "So I would look to see if I could find him with the databases available to me," she told Yahoo! Shine. She started searching for him online, but Internet searches pulled up "pages and pages" of people named Spencer Parrish. "I had gone to some adoption sites and posted notices looking for my son, hoping he would find me," she said.

On February 21, 2013, she typed "Spencer Parrish" into Google, along with the last place she knew her son had lived: Juneau, Alaska. "And the first thing that popped up was a note that he wrote to me on Valentine's day, back in 2001," Lobaugh told Yahoo! Shine. He had posted the note — "Therman Randall Blair DOB Feb. 1983 looking for mother" — on Ancestry.com a few days after his 18th birthday.

Scholes, 38, previously announced his retirement at the end of the 2010/11 season, but made a shock return to the team on 8 January 2012 when he came on as a substitute in the FA Cup third round victory at Manchester City.

PHOTO : WOMAN FOUND ALIVE AFTER 17 DAYS UNDER COLLAPSE BUILDING IN BANGLADESH

For many days, rescue workers plowing through the site of last month April’s building collapse in Bangladesh had the grim task of pulling out body after body of dead people, some already decomposing.

But on Friday, as the operation wound down, they miraculously found a survivor. Crews digging through the rubble heard a woman’s soft voice pleading for help: I’m alive. Please rescue me...

According to Capt. Ibrahim Islam, a Bangladeshi military official outside the site of the recovery operation, they extracted the woman in an operation that last about one hour.

Crowds converged to pray for the woman as rescuers rushed her to a hospital. Her name is Reshma. And she’s the last person to come out alive, several days after they started removing dead bodies.

The rescue of Reshma comes more than two weeks after a nine-storey-building in a Bangladesh complex housing factories full of garment workers caved in, becoming South Asia’s deadliest industrial disaster.

Lagos Bans Tri-cycle (KEKE NAPEP) Operators From Major Roads

Lagos State government Friday banned the activities of Tri-cycle popularly called Keke Na pep from the major roads in the state, saying, “it is meant to protect the lives and property of the residents of the state.”

The state government however vowed to impound any disused and abandoned vehicles across the state, explaining “4,632 vehicles were currently abandoned on over 9,100 roads in theState.
Commissioner for transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa disclosed this at the 2013 Ministerial Press Briefing held in Alausa to mark the sixth anniversary of Governor Babatunde Fashola administration.

Opeifa said that the state government had held several meetings with the unions on the development, adding “they have agreed to stay away from these roads.” Some of the roads tri-cycles operation was outlawed were:
the entire Victoria Island, Government Residential Area, GRA Ikeja and Ikoyi. Also on Awolowo road and Awolowo way, Alausa and entire major roads in Surulere Local Government.

Opeifa warned that tri-cycling isn’t a
replacement for motorcycle popularly called Okada in the state, adding “it isn’t a
sustainable means of transport for the state especially Lagos that is a megacity.” According to him, “I learnt that some Okada riders have began to sell their motorcycle to by tricycle but they can no longer operate on these major roads again.”
The commissioner explained that section 3 of the 2012 Lagos road traffic law also
outlawed the operation of the tri-cycle in the state. It will be recalled that Fashola signed the road traffic bill into law last year, aimed at improving safety on the Lagos roads.
After that law was gazetted, the state
government allowed tri-cycle to operate on
some of these roads because vehicles
available in those roads weren’t enough to
convey the passengers plying the road,” he
said. Opeifa stated that today, the state has
enough Bus Rapid Transport, BRT and
LAGBUS buses, taxis and others are now
available on these roads and the tricycle
wouldn’t be needed.

ON ABANDONED BUSES
The commissioner said “They constitute
threat security of lives and property in the
state.” According to him, “While we are proud to improve on information of the removal of over 4,300 abandoned and disused vehicles from Lagos roads, it is saddening that recent survey by the CDA/CDC’s under the supervision of the Ministry of Rural Development have again in the last 3 month identify another 4,632 vehicles abandoned on over 9,100 roads in Lagos State.”

He added “These vehicles are veritable tools for hoodlums, miscreants, armed robbers and other forms of social vices. So also they pose health risk. We will not relent on enforcement.”
“To spare part dealers vehicle/Auto sales dealers please be advised as vehicles illegally displayed on road setback will be treated as abandoned/disused vehicle,” Opeifa said. On this, the commissioner said “we have instructed officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA and Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, to immediately begun to impound any abandoned or disuse cars in the state.”

Nigeria, South Africa approve visa free regime to officials

Nigeria and South Africa have agreed to exempt holders of diplomatic and official passports of the two countries from procuring visas before traveling from one of the countries to the other.

The agreement that gave legal backing to the decision was one of the nine Memoranda of Understanding and agreements signed on Tuesday by the two countries during the ongoing official visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to South Africa.

While briefing journalists after a closed-door session at the Presidential Office in Cape Town, Jonathan and his host, President Jacob Zuma, expressed the conviction that the agreements reached during the visit would lead to stronger cooperation between the two countries.

This, they said, was necessary for economic, social and political development on the continent.

Other aspects of the MoU signed during the visit included those of cooperation in legal field, oil and gas sectors, power sector development, environment, defence cooperation, women development and empowerment as well as child development.

Others are those that concern geology, mining, mineral processing and metallurgy as well as Information and Communication Technology.

Jonathan and Zuma announced that respective ministers would ensure the effective implementation of the  instruments and the conclusion of outstanding agreements.

Zuma expressed delight at the number of South African companies operating in Nigeria, saying such companies were up to over 100 with the biggest investment being in telecommunications.

He  promised that other sectors, such as engineering, construction, banking, oil and the media would soon be expanded.

Zuma noted the need for both countries to promote people to people relationship especially through tourism, which he said had generated huge Foreign Direct Investment for the country.

“Last year alone, South Africa received a total of 73,282 Nigerian tourists, which is a 13.8percent increase from 2011 contributing about 720million Rands to the South African economy within the period,” he said.

Jonathan on his part, described the signing of nine bilateral agreements between the two countries as a major achievement that would enhance the  critical role of Nigeria and South Africa in transforming the continent.

Sir alex ferguson to retire as united manager by end of the season

Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has announced his decision to retire at the end of the season. The 71 year old who became Man U manager in 1986, will bow out after Man U meets West Bromwich Albion on May 19th and will join the football club board as director & ambassador.

Sir Alex is the most successful manager in English football history. He won 38 tropphies, including two Champions League and 13 Premier League. Sir Alex Ferguson told United’s website:
“The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time. It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so. The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.
“Our training facilities are amongst the finest in global sport and our home Old Trafford is rightfully regarded as one of the leading venues in the world.

"As for my players and staff, past and present, I would like to thank them all for a staggering level of professional conduct and dedication that has helped to deliver so many memorable triumphs. Without their contribution the history of this great club would not be as rich.

Three Missing US Women Found Alive After 10 Years

Three women who were missing for years, two of whom disappeared as teenagers, have been found alive in a house in Cleveland. Ohio State police said on Monday the three were found just south of downtown, within a few kilometres of where they disappeared. A neighbour in the community was alerted to their presence by screams from the house and rushed to the dwelling where he found the women, one of whom used his cell phone to call emergency-911, according to Cleveland police.
“Help me! I’m Amanda Berry. I’ve been kidnapped and I’ve been missing for 10 years and I’m here. I’m free now,” Berry is heard frantically telling a 911 emergency operator in a recording of the call, released by police and posted on the website of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
During the call, she gave the name of her alleged abductor and said he was “out of the house.”
When police arrived she told them there were two other captives in the home.
All three women have since been taken to a hospital, where they were reported to be in good medical condition, police said.
The three women were identified by police as Gina DeJesus, Amanda Berry and Michelle Knight. Police said in a twitter posting that the three were “alive, talking, appeared to be okay.”
“All three women, Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michele Knight, seem to be in good health,” Cleveland police said in a statement.
The details of the trauma they may have suffered in captivity were not yet known, but it appeared that at least one of the girls had borne a child during her captivity.
“A 52 year old Hispanic male has been placed under arrest regarding this incident.”

Police identified the suspect as Ariel Castro, 52, a bus driver for Cleveland public schools. His uncle, Caesar Castro, who owns a grocery store on the same street, said his nephew owned the house where the women were found. He added that members of his family and the family of DeJesus “grew up together.”
“Everyone is shocked,” said the elder Castro. He said he had known his nephew to be “a good guy” and a musician who played the bass.
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said, “I am thankful that Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight have been found alive.”
He added, “We have many unanswered questions regarding this case, and the investigation will be ongoing. Again, I am thankful that these three young ladies are found and alive.”
Berry was last seen at approximately 7:40 p.m. on April 21, 2003, after leaving work at a fast food restaurant that was just a few blocks from her home. She was 16 when she disappeared, according to the FBI.
Her mother, Louwanna Miller, passed away in March of 2006, according to US media reports.
DeJesus was 14 when she disappeared while walking home from school on April 2, 2004.
She was last seen at a pay telephone booth, sometime between 2:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. that day, according to the FBI.
The third woman, Michelle Knight, disappeared in 2000 at age 20, according to US media. She was last seen at a cousin’s house on August 23, 2002, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Nigeria fighter jet crashes in Niger, two killed

A Nigerian warplane crashed in Niger today Monday May 6th, from where it was conducting military operations in neighbouring Mali, and the two pilots were killed, Nigeria's army said in a statement.
The fighter jet was part of Nigeria's air fleet engaged with an African force battling hardline Islamists in Mali. An army source in Niamey said it had suffered a "mechanical" problem.

"A Nigerian Air Force Alpha jet aircraft on a non-combattant mission crashed today at Dargol village...The two pilots on board the fighter jet died," the Nigerian defence headquarters said in a statement.

The jet is one of four Nigerian aircraft based in Niamey as part of of the Africa-led International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA), it said, adding that the crash was being investigated.

French and Chadian planes and US drones have used the Niamey airport as a base for their operations in Mali.

The 6,000-strong AFISMA has taken over the lead from France in supporting Mali's army in the battle against Al-Qaeda-linked extremists.

A French-led operation launched in January drove the Islamists from key cities they had seized in northern Mali. But the Islamists have turned to suicide bombings and guerrilla attacks in reclaimed territory.

Chris Kelly Attempted to Rap About Dead Bodies Hours Before His Death

A video reportedly taken hours before Chris Kelly passed away has surfaced online. Obtained by TMZ, the clip which was shot in the rapper's Atlanta home around 7 A.M. on May 1 gives a look at one of the final moments leading to his death.

Seemingly drugged out, the member of rap duo Kris Kross attempted to rap and spit out lyrics to music heard playing through speakers. According to the site, the song which Kelly had been working on includes the lyric, "We don't stop, for nothing or nobody ... look around you it's full of dead bodies."

Hours after the event in the video, Kelly was found unresponsive in his home and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy on the 34-year-old rapper was completed on Thursday, showing no signs of foul play or trauma.

Cpl. Kay Lester said, "It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose," but the cause of death will only be determined when his toxicology reports come in the next 3 or 4 weeks. Kelly's mother told the investigators that her son took a mixture of heroin and cocaine the night before his death.

Robert Lewandowski Might be Coming to Stamford Bridge as Dortmund Wants De Bruyne.

The Daily Star reports Dortmund are eager to avoid selling Lewandowski to rivals Bayern Munich – who they will face in the Champions League final later this month – at all costs. Andre Villas-Boas denies Hotspurs is one-man Bale team

Tottenham Hotspurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has denied that Spurs is a one-man team, following winger Gareth Bale`s eight winning goals this season.

With 20 strikes in 30 outings and double PFA awards to his credit, Bale has gone ahead to declare victory over Southampton.

While Bale remains the sole Spurs player who has scored in every League game, Villas-Boas insisted that all teams that have qualified for the League championship have standout players who can make a difference such as Chelsea`s Frank Lampard, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard, Manchester United`s Robin Van Persie.

Villas-Boas has hit out at critics who recognize Bale to be the consistent striker for Spurs this season, saying that it is fortunate that Bale is in good form, but at the end, the team has to produce to enjoy the moment of brilliance, adding that it is going to be a tough competition where winning one match is not sufficient with some teams battling for survival, while others facing difficult fixtures.

Tennis player tweets about Samsung Galaxy S4's awesomeness from his iPhone

Most brands consider celebrity endorsements as a way to break away from the clutter and drive home the message about their products. However, celebrities and brand associations don't always work out, especially when you throw in social media to the mix.
Samsung roped in Spanish tennis player and current world number 4 David Ferrer to harp about its latest flagship Galaxy S4. On April 30, Ferrer took to micro-blogging website Twitter to say that he was mighty impressed with the S Health feature of Samsung Galaxy S4 and that this feature was helping him train.

While that seems a perfectly appropriate message to get people talking about the Galaxy S4, there was one small problem: Ferrer used an iPhone to send this tweet.

While Ferrer later deleted this tweet, it was captured by an alert user and later shared by TUAW website. Ferrer is not the first celebrity to be caught with the proverbial foot in his mouth. Earlier this year, Alicia Keys found herself in a similar situation. At the launch of BlackBerry Z10, Keys took centre stage with BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins as the company announced that she will be the new Creative Director for BlackBerry.

However, a few days post her announcement, Keys was spotted sending tweets through Tweetdeck app on her iPhone. Though Keys later tried to clear the air by claiming those tweets were not her own but posted by a third-party on her behalf, the damage had already been done. Critics even pointed out that Keys had been posting photos using Instagram, an app which was not available on BlackBerry 10 smartphones at that time.

Even Oprah Winfrey had to face similar embarrassment. Winfrey went gung-ho praising Microsoft's Surface tablet saying on her website that "The Surface, Microsoft's first tablet, feels like a Mercedes-Benz to me, people!" and later took the micro-blogging website Twitter to inform her followers that she had bought 12 Microsoft Surface tablets as Christmas gifts. However, this tweet of hers had been posted from an iPad.

Some of the Indian celebrities too have been spotted making similar gaffes. One such example is that of Sonam Kapoor who was seen using Ubersocial Twitter app from her BlackBerry smartphone while she was still associated with S Mobility (Spice).

HTC One's 'downmarket' cousin M4's picture, specs leak

A cheaper version of HTC's critically acclaimed flagship phone, HTC One, has surfaced online. Codenamed, M4, the mid-range variant of the phone follows the same design language that we've seen in the One, although it's not known if it will also use the same materials. It also features two speaker grills on the front and comes with Beats audio.

The images of the phone were brought to public domain by the notorious Evleaks who also informs that the phone would sport a 4.3-inch 720p screen, and will be powered by a dual-core processor, unlike the One's quad-core CPU. It will have 2GB RAM and the same Ultrapixel camera that featured in the HTC One.It will house a 1700mAh non-removable battery and offer 16GB of internal memory.

The report indicates that the phone will ship towards the end of the second quarter with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

It's not the first time that the existence of the M4 has been suggested. In February, with the M7 or HTC One leaks, Evleaks had indicated that HTC was working on two other phones, namely the M4 and G2. Evleaks had said that the M4 was a premium smartphone, which would be one notch below the HTC M7 and will come with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon SoC running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), along with Sense 5.0. He had also confirmed the other specifications including LTE support. The G2 meanwhile is rumoured to be an entry-level device with a 3.5-inch screen with HVGA display, 512MB RAM and a 5-megapixel camera. This smartphone is touted to have a 1GHz processor and run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Evleaks' leaks have mostly turned out to be reliable, so it's likely that we might hear about the new phone from HTC soon. It will be interesting to see HTC follow Samsung's footsteps and introduce mid-range variants of flagships. Samsung is reportedly going to launch the Galaxy S4 mini, a mid-range variant of its flagship smartphone, Galaxy S4.

Microsoft: The Xbox 720 won’t require an always-on connection to play games

The internet has been abuzz for months with rumors about Microsoft’s next Xbox requiring an always-on connection. Everyone started hand-wringing about the negative implications, and it even led to a Microsoft employee losing his job after mouthing off on Twitter. Well, it seems as if all the worrying was for naught because a recently leaked internal memo makes it clear that a connection won’t be required for all activities.

Today, Ars Technica is reporting that the next Xbox will play games, run Blu-rays, and show live television without an active connection to the internet. Supposedly, this information comes directly from an email sent to all full-time members of the Xbox team. While this is far from official confirmation, this does line up quite well with information that’s been going around since the Adam Orth story exploded. The prevailing theory is that Microsoft had planned to make the console require an always-on connection, but the near-universal blowback has forced its hand. Instead of unveiling the Xbox 720 last month, Microsoft was compelled to delay the announcement until May 21.

Perhaps even more interesting than the offline game play is the Blu-ray and television support. Famously, Microsoft bet on HD-DVD with the Xbox 360, and that ended poorly when Blu-ray took off in the market. It’s surprising to see Microsoft using Sony’s disc format instead of developing a different high-capacity disc standard à la Nintendo. At this point, it’s worth it to pay the fee instead of giving the PS4 a leg up in checklist comparisons. Less surprising is the idea of the Xbox 720 serving as a cable box. Microsoft’s partnerships with cable companies has been widely discussed in the last few months, and we can expect subsidized Xbox 720 packages from the Comcasts and Verizons of the world. Hopefully, this will be a better solution than the half-assed IPTV streaming solution Microsoft has in place with the 360.

We’re only fifteen days away from the Xbox 720 unveiling event, so we’ll know soon enough if any of this is legitimate. If Microsoft actually took cues from the massive consumer outcry, this might be one of the few times the rumor mill actually accomplished something positive. Even if Microsoft sticks to its guns in the end, the PS4 will definitely support offline play, so disconnected gamers will have an outlet no matter what. Everyone can relax now.

First 3D-Printed Gun Successfully Fired in Texas

The world's first 3D-printed handgun has been successfully fired in Texas, according to its creator Defense Distributed.

All 16 parts of the controversial gun, called the Liberator, are made from a tough, heat-resistant plastic used in products such as musical instruments, kitchen appliances and vehicle bumper bars.

Fifteen of those are made with a 3D printer while one is a non-functional metal part which can be picked up by metal detectors, making it legal under U.S. law. The firing pin is also not made of plastic, though it is easily crafted from a metal nail.

The weapon is designed to fire standard handgun rounds and even features an interchangeable barrel so that it can handle different caliber rounds. The blueprint files were made available online today for download.

Defense Distributed, a not-for-profit group based in Texas, was founded by 25-year-old University of Texas law study Cody Wilson, who took eight months to create the gun.

U.S could have stopped libya attacks - official

The U.S. military could have prevented one wave of the deadly attack on American personnel in Benghazi if fighter jets had been promptly deployed, a top diplomatic official who was in Benghazi during the Sept. 11 assault told congressional investigators. 

The account, contained in a transcript obtained by Fox News, was given by Gregory Hicks during an interview last month with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Hicks, a whistle-blower who is preparing to testify Wednesday before that committee, was deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya -- after Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed that night, he became the highest-ranking diplomat on the ground. 

Hicks, in his interview, argued that after the first wave of attacks on the U.S. consulate, the U.S. military could have prevented additional violence with a quickly scrambled flight -- after the first wave, terrorists would go on to launch a pre-dawn mortar assault on the CIA annex.

Traffic Reopened on Brooklyn Bridge After Man Climbs Tower.

Traffic has been reopened in both directions on the Brooklyn Bridge after it was shut down for several hours Saturday afternoon when a man climbed to the top of a tower near the Manhattan side of the bridge.

It was unclear how the man got there. Several police officers from the NYPD's Emergency Services Unit were seen on the tower talking to the man before he came down.

The man was taken away in ambulance. No word yet on whether he will face any charges.
